Influence of tablets in this generation changed a lot in the field of technology. The evolution of tablet made internet browsing easier. Development in technical field also led to the progress of technology. I have collected the timeline of tablet from 1972 to 2012.
Evolution of tablets

  • 1972-    Dynabook Alan Kay invented the first tablet which remained a concept
  • 1987-   Cambridge Z88; Linus White –Top
  • 1990-    GRID Pad 1910
  • 1991-    HP 95LX was a pocket PC with MSDOS as Key-board
  • 1992-    GRID2260

  • 1993-    Apple’s Newton 6 inch PDA with type recognition ; Zoomer, the palm device run on Palm OS was produced by the Tandy and was sold by Casio
  • 1999-    Rocket eBook was produced by NuvoMedia
  • 2001-    Via Tablet was the first device to be run on Windows XP Tablet PC version
  • 2003-    FSC Lifebook had the functions of notebook and touch screen capability
  • 2005-    Nokia 770 internet tablet hit the markets
  • 2006-    Sony UX, Samsung Q1
  • 2007-    Kindle- Amazon’s eBook with e-ink technology created a new market; Apple’s iPhone replaced by PDAs
  • 2010-    iPad 1 –Apple revolutionised the device class with its tablets  ; Galaxy tab ran on Android  ; New innovations like Dell Streak, Viewsonic Viewpad, Olive Pad
  • 2011-    iPad 2 ; Motorolla Xoom, Blackberry Palybook, HP Touchpad, LG Optimus, HTC Flyer
  • 2012-   Introduction of iPad 3 and Sony Tablets
